Secret Project + News Roundup

Oh! Juicy Beast is alive! You’re right, we’ve been way too silent recently, and there are a couple reasons for that. Here’s what we’ve been up to the past couple
Every team had a randomly generated theme + one element to include in the game. Our theme was Focus and our element was Top hat. The game is a 1vs1 fighting game where each gentleman has to bump the other gentleman’s hat off to win a point. First player to reach 5 wins the game. You can move left and right (which will make your head wiggle using physics) and you can dash in the direction your hat is pointing by holding and releasing the X button (the game works best with controllers).
Using your “focus” (the X button) will freeze your body in time before you dash, so you have to be careful not to get hit during that time. The longer you hold your focus, the faster you will dash. It takes a bit of practice to control the characters, but once you get used to it, you can do pretty much what you want with them.

We received a lot of great feedback so far and we even ended up in the top games of IndieSpeedRun (grats to our good friends from Neverpants who won the Mighty Burchatta prize with their game Harvest Escape)! If you’d like to give Gentlemen Dispute a try, you can download the game for free on the IndieSpeedRun website or on Gamejolt!
Chances are you’ve already heard of Toto Temple, the game we originally made in 3 days during ToJam 2013 (Toronto Game Jam). Right? Well, the game managed to get some attention since then, and we think it’s pretty awesome!
Back in November, Toto Temple was selected by the Gamercamp festival in Toronto to be one of the 14 featured games, alongside games like Crypt of the NecroDancer, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Stanley Parable, Starwhal, Super TIME Force and Without Question.

During Gamercamp, Toto Temple was also featured in the ToJam Retrospective party, where the best games from ToJam were displayed. How cool is that! If you’d like to download the game for free, you can get it on tototemple.com !
Marion, our (ex)intern
This summer, we had the chance to work with a great student designer. Her name is Marion Esquian and we decided to took her in as an intern (our very first intern) for a couple months. She was supposed to work on a pretty big client project at first, but it got delayed and we had to find her new things to work on.
Marion ended up working on some new UI for Burrito Bison Revenge (potential Ouya and mobile version), as well as on some better UI for Toto Temple. You should take a look at her cool portfolio (and also offer her a job if you’re an employer near Montreal)!
New, full responsive website
It’s nothing crazy, but we have a brand new responsive website! Not impressed? Okay, you’re right, it’s not that exciting. We simply wanted to have a simple, minimalist website that you can easily browse through on your phone, tablet or computer (that’s what we call responsive). Go ahead, give it a try! Try resizing your browser window if you’re on a computer. MAGIC.
Knightmare Tower on iOS and Android
Yeah, we know, that’s all we’ve been talking about these past few months. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Knightmare Tower is now out on iOS and Android! We still haven’t been featured by Google, so we’ll wait a bit before comparing sales from both platforms. We’ll probably share some stats later on, just to see how well both versions did. Stay tuned!
Oh, we almost forgot to say that Knightmare Tower has recently been featured by Apple as one of the Best App Store games of 2013! That’s INSANE! Just think about how many games get uploaded each day on the App Store. MIND-FREAKIN’-BLOWN!
Finally, you’ve reached the end of the post! So yeah, we’re working on a secret project as we speak (and no, it’s not Knightmare Tower on a new platform). Can you believe it? We know it’s been a while since we released anything new, but completely changing our workflow took us a little bit of time. We can’t say more on the game for now, but our plan is to announce it somewhere in January 2014, so stay tuned folks!
